In 2015 we embarked on a journey to find the BEST companion/hunting dog throughout all breeds.

All signs pointed to the German Shorthaired Pointer which landed us on our first female pup named Dixie. Dixie was a blessing regarding raising/maintaining/training. The lessons we learned from our experience with Dixie were crucial in understanding the next line of dogs we would bring into our family. 

Countless hours of research helped us understand the dramatic variations within the breed and also made us realize that we had to search for the profile we determined to be best, the temperament that allows for a great household pet, and the drive and natural ability to surpass expectation hunting in the field. Each one of these attributes holds equally as much weight and must be proven out to become worthy of breeding here at Sunset Farms Kennel. Our Genetics now span the most prized parts of Europe and are now some of the first of their kind to be found in the US.
